The Clark blog has been pretty quiet lately so we thought we give you a little update.
We have been spending some time brushing off the dust and working in my basement studio space on some new material. The last several practices have been spent almost exclusively on songwriting. From hours of recorded jams, our archivist Justin has culled together many bits that will eventually become new songs. So far we have fleshed out 2 brand new ones that will receive some polishing over the next couple of weeks. Time permitting, we hope to have another one or two eventually using this same technique.
We are also booking for the Spring, and have added a few dates to the calender already. Our next show will be at the Black Mountain Ale House on March 30th. Click the calender link for detailed info on the our shows including directions, if you need them.
Finally, we are very excited to announce that we are confirmed for the 2012 White Squirrel Festival this May in Brevard! The set time has yet to be determined, but we hope to see you out there!

North Carolina Band “Serious Clark” Named Finalist in Charter’s Center Stage Online Battle of the Bands
Charter assists finalists in preparing videos for final round of voting;
Winner to kick off show featuring Panic! At the Disco, Fitz & The Tantrums, Plain White T’s
SEPTEMBER 12, 2011 – A virtual battle of the bands will give one hometown band the
opportunity to take “center stage” and open Charter Center Stage, a music festival featuring
national acts Panic! At the Disco, Fitz & The Tantrums, and Plain White T’s. Charter Center
Stage, an online battle of the bands competition, will culminate in an outdoor concert on
October 15 at Willow Island at Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI, and be streamed live on
Facebook®.
Serious Clark, a self-described folk rock fusion band from Brevard, NC, entered the
contest by submitting a video of the band that was posted on Charter’s website for online
fan voting. With streamed videos from more than 300 bands watched by nearly a half-
million online fans across the country, Serious Clark garnered enough votes in the initial
round of online voting to earn them a place as one of 11 finalists in Charter Center Stage
online battle of the bands.
“We’re thankful to Charter for having this contest,” said Michael Babb, Serious Clark’s
lead singer, songwriter, and guitar player. “We’re floored that we are representing our
area.”
Babb said that Serious Clark has performed as a group for more than a year, with
2011 being a breakout year for the band. Among the venues that the group has played
includes Western University, Tall Gary’s in Downtown Asheville, and most recently, the
Mountain State Fair in Fletcher, NC.
Babb said that fans who voted for the band in Charter Center Stage should keep listening,
and stay tuned for what’s next. “If I could figure out what makes us unique, I would put it
in a bottle and sell it,” he said. “I just know how it feels. We are about real music.”
The Grand Prize winning band will receive a prize package valued at nearly $25,000,
including a trip to the concert venue in October with rock star, VIP treatment and a
musical equipment allowance.
